We are just under a week away from Iowa's postseason Bowl matchup against No. 14 Vanderbilt.
The Hawkeyes know Vanderbilt presents unique offensive challenges, and it starts and ends with their starting quarterback, Diego Pavia.
Pavia is a gifted, dual-threat quarterback who finished second in Heisman voting to Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza.
While Pavia continues making headlines for all the wrong reasons, the No. 23 Hawkeyes are diligently preparing for a tough, ranked matchup.
We got a small glimpse into Iowa's most recent preparations, courtesy of starting quarterback Mark Gronowski.
Gronowski was mic'd up during Iowa's Christmas Eve practice and showed how light-hearted yet intense Iowa practices can be.
He started off by saying that there was only going to be "mad trash talk all day," and calling defensive back Zach Lutmer "Wal-Mart Cooper DeJean.
Outside of multiple playful comments by Gronowski and some of his teammates, he was slinging the ball around the yard and throwing some dimes to his receivers.
While he did not mention whether or not he has completely recovered from the injury he suffered during the Indiana game, he was moving smoothly and hitting his receivers in stride.
His leadership was also on display as he congratulated the offensive line on winning the Joe Moore Award and had multiple personalized celebrations with some of his teammates.
Overall, the squad was having fun out there while diligently preparing, and a huge shoutout to Iowa Football's social media team for giving us a glimpse of a practice through Gronowski's eyes.
After less than a year with the program, Gronowski has meshed with his teammates, and he will be greatly missed after this season.
