Few college football players have become social stars like former Hawkeye Gennings Dunker.

Dunker's popularity took off during the 2026 Panini Senior Bowl with his hilarious interviews and flowing red locks, but he proved he can do more than just sport a great mullet.

He showcased his versatility during the Senior Bowl, lining up at every offensive line position, and proved his athleticism at the NFL Scouting Combine.

The Pittsburgh Steelers, who have seemed to love drafting Hawkeyes lately, selected Dunker in the third round, and they are now keeping him in Pittsburgh long-term.

Dunker and the Steelers reached an agreement on his first pro contract

As a third-round pick, there was little doubt that Dunker would sign a contract, but even though there wasn't a 100 percent guarantee, it's great to see the Steelers lock up their second Hawkeye.

After signing fellow Hawkeye Kaden Wetjen to a four-year deal, Pittsburgh reached a similar agreement with Dunker, locking him up for four years.

The big man from Lena, Illinois, is now a Pittsburgh Steeler for the next four seasons, and he brings a lot to the table.

Dunker is a big, physical presence on the offensive line, and he also brings a wealth of experience, even though he hasn't played a snap in the NFL yet.

Dunker racked up 38 career starts at Iowa, including starting in all 13 games last season. He played a key part in the Hawkeyes earning the Joe Moore Award as the best offensive line unit in college football in 2025, and Pittsburgh is thrilled to have him.

The Steelers are 'excited' to add Dunker to their offensive line room

Dunker's versatility is really going to help at the next level, and even though he primarily lined up at tackle for the Hawkeyes, Pittsburgh sees him as more of a guard and secondary tackle.

The Steelers' offensive line coach, James Campen, said he will be a guard at this point, but he loves everything Dunker brings.

Campen called him an "aggressive kid" and a "good football player," and said he is someone they are excited to have in the offensive line room.

Campen also said he has a lot of respect for how the Iowa Football program develops players, and they come out having great footwork and established pad levels.

He also liked how Dunker was always first in line during drills at the Senior Bowl, saying it showed some leadership.

The Steelers are excited to have Dunker, and we are excited to see the big man play on Sundays for a long time.
