Iowa Women's Basketball welcomed the Fairfield Stags to Carver-Hawkeye Arena after crushing Western Illinois last Wednesday.
Fairfield gave Iowa everything it could handle on Sunday afternoon and was even leading the game after the first quarter.
The Iowa offense woke up in the second half, outscoring the Stags 69-50 and earning win No. 8 this season.
Center Ava Heiden went off in the second half, finishing with a game-high 18 points and adding 16 rebounds.
Kylie Feuerbach added 17 points, while Hannah Stuelke and Taylor McCabe each added 13 points in the win.
Addie Deal continues to improve every game
The fabulous freshman Addie Deal had high expectations before playing a game for the Hawkeyes this season.
After starting slowly, Deal has come on in Iowa's past two wins.
During Iowa's win over Western Illinois, Deal had a team-high 17 points and added three rebounds and five assists.
Against Fairfield, Deal led the bench in scoring with nine points, shooting an efficient four of seven from the field.
The Hawkeyes have been without guards Chit-Chat Wright and Emely Rodriguez, and Deal is making the most of her opportunity.
Ava Heiden continues to be a force
Heiden cannot be stopped in the paint.
The sophomore center put together another dominating performance against Fairfield, and is making an argument as Iowa's best player.
Heiden notched another double-double with 18 points and 16 rebounds, and has outplayed fellow post player Hannah Stuelke to this point in the season.
Heiden is not only a force down low, but runs the floor like a gazelle and gets a lot of baskets in transition.
She makes teams game plan for her, and that will continue for the rest of the season.
Next game: Saturday, December 6, at Rutgers (5:00 p.m. Central Time)
