The No. 20 Hawkeyes have a great chance to increase their College Football Playoff chances with a win this Saturday.

The team that stands in their way: No. 9 Oregon.

During the players' media availability this week, everyone echoed the same sentiment: that the next game is always the biggest of your career, and it doesn't get bigger than this weekend's matchup against Oregon.

After shocking the college football world by storming into the first CFP Rankings after not being ranked in the AP Top 25 poll, the Hawkeyes can cement themselves in the race for a spot with a win this weekend.

Before the Hawkeyes welcome the Ducks to Iowa City, the program announced that a former defensive back and captain is returning as an honorary captain for the game this weekend.

Former defensive back Jordan Lomax is making his return to Iowa City as an honorary captain for the game against Oregon on Saturday afternoon.

Lomax will accompany Iowa's current captains to midfield for the pregame coin toss, and he will join members of the 2015 team who will be honored on the field during the first timeout of the second quarter.

Lomax was a member of the Hawkeye football squad from 2011 to 2015, becom ing a starter for his final two seasons.

During his career for the Hawkeyes, Lomax tallied 201 total tackles (99 solo, 102 assisted), three forced fumbles and two interceptions.

Lomax was named as a team captain during his senior year (2015) and helped guide the Hawkeyes to an undefeated regular season and an appearance in the Rose Bowl.
