The men's basketball transfer portal window has been open for nearly a week, and Ben McCollum and the Hawkeyes have been quiet.
Coming off a solid 24-13 season a trip to the Elite 8 for the first time since 1987, McCollum and the program have been actively pursuing transfers to round out the roster.
The program has been in contact with at least seven different transfers, including hosting talented center Andrew McKeever last weekend, and they have now locked in another visit with a talented freshman guard from just over the border in neighboring Illinois.
Iowa continues its search for a Bennett Stirtz replacement with transfer Ty'Reek Coleman
It is a challenging task to replace star Bennett Stirtz on and off the court, but the program must face its new reality without him in Iowa City.
There is no shortage of transfer portal options, and the program is trying to convince a talented freshman guard transfer to make his way west to Iowa City.

According to League Ready high school and college basketball recruiting analyst Sam Kayser, Iowa has a visit locked in with Illinois State transfer Ty'Reek Coleman.
Coleman, a six-foot-two guard from Aurora, Illinois, had a solid freshman season for the Redbirds, putting up 10.0 points per game on 50.4 percent shooting from the field and 41.6 percent shooting from beyond the arc.
He also added 2.7 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 22.7 minutes per game.
Coleman is drawing significant interest in the portal due to his ability to get to the rim and finish through contact. He also showcased his ability to knock down three-pointers, even though he did not attempt many per game.
Iowa's search for a new starting point guard is ramping up, and hopefully, the Hawkeyes can have a successful meeting with Coleman and keep him in Iowa City.
