After being injured against Indiana, quarterback Mark Gronowski's status is "cloudy"

During the coordinators' press conference this week, there was only one question on everyone's mind: how is quarterback Mark Gronowski?

After a sluggish start to last Saturday's Homecoming matchup against Indiana, Gronowski settled in and was able to create sustained drives throughout the game.

Unfortunately, Iowa came up short on most of those drives and had an even tougher time when Gronowski went out with an injury early in the fourth quarter.

After Gronowski exited the game, backup Hank Brown entered the game and attempted to lead Iowa to an upset win over the No. 11 Indiana Hoosiers.

Brown entered the game around the 10-minute mark in the fourth quarter, but struggled to find consistency.

Brown finished the game completely, only five of 13 pass attempts for 48 yards and one interception, as Iowa's upset bid fell short.

After the weekend came to a close and Iowa entered the bye week, there was still no update on Gronowski's health, and offensive coordinator Tim Lester did not provide any insight when he took the podium this week.

Lester began his press conference this week by stating that he does not know Mark's status yet, but it is unclear. He also deferred any questions to Kirk Ferentz when he resumes his normal weekly press conference next week, ahead of the Wisconsin game.

Lester's response did not inspire any confidence in Gronowski's availability for next week.

If he is set to miss some time due to injury, Brown and third-string quarterback Jeremy Hecklinski took more reps in practice this week, and Iowa should be able to handle Wisconsin without him.
