The Hawkeyes had chances to complete an upset win over No. 11 Indiana on Saturday afternoon, but fell short.
After a disastrous first drive, where quarterback Mark Gronowski tossed an interception on his first pass attempt, the Hawkeyes settled in.
Indiana took advantage of the turnover, scoring a touchdown in two plays to take an early 7-0 lead, but Iowa was able to respond.
The Hawkeye offense was efficient through the first half, but could not put the finishing touches on drives, leaving points on the table.
The defense also struggled to make tackles in space and at the point of attack, allowing Indiana to stay afloat.
Overall, the score was tied at 10-10 at the end of the first half, and the Hawkeyes continued to push for the upset.
The Hawkeyes notched a field goal early, and after Indiana responded with a field goal of their own, a concerning moment happened for the Hawkeyes.
Quarterback Mark Gronowski went down two minutes into the fourth quarter, and backup Hank Brown was thrust into duty.
Even though Head Coach Kirk Ferentz stated Brown looked poised, his play demonstrated the opposite as he threw an interception, and completed on five of 13 passes.
Brown was extremely critical of his performance postgame.
During his media availability after the loss to Indiana (posted by "247Sports"), when he was asked about his performance, Brown uttered one word: disappointed.
Brown stated that when Mark went down, he was the next man up, and he "left some stuff out there."
He also stated he wishes he could have executed better down the stretch, and whether he was a little or a lot off on some of his throws, a miss is a miss.
Brown was also asked how he felt going into a tough situation against a ranked team with a chance to wina nd he stated it was tough, but that's football.
The Hawkeyes have a bye week this upcoming weekend to reset and get ready for Wisconsin on October 11 in Madison.
