Jan Jensen and the Hawkeyes just got some amazing news from the recruiting trail.
Jensen and her new-look squad are diligently preparing for the 2026-2027 season as summer workouts continue ramping up. The team will look very different from last season, with only five returning players, but the roster is looking extremely well-rounded.
As the Hawkeyes continue preparing for next season, they continue earning wins on the recruiting trail. A recent under-the-radar official visit is turning out to be a whole lot more, and now Iowa is in the final running for an ultra-talented prospect in the 2027 class.
Mya Wilson continues to be connected to the Iowa Hawkeyes after her official visit
Mya Wilson, the No.1-ranked Minnesota prospect in the 2027 class, has continued to be connected to the Hawkeyes as the 2027 recruiting cycle ramps up. Wilson attended an Iowa-Michigan State game last season, and after taking an official visit this summer, has the Hawkeyes in her final four.

Wilson has been connected to the Iowa program for a while now, and they must have made a solid impression, because the Hawkeyes are thoroughly in the mix for the talented combo guard from Hill-Murray High School in Minnesota. A little under a week after taking an official visit to Iowa City, Wilson announced she is focused on four schools: Iowa, Minnesota, Ohio State, and TCU.
Wilson is a true three-level scorer who can shoot from outside and isn't afraid to attack the basket. At six-foot-one, she has the size and skill to overpower her defenders on the perimeter, but she can't be left open from beyond the arc.
Wilson, paired with current 2027 commit Jada Seubert, would form a lethal offensive backcourt and solve a future issue for the program.
Wilson's commitment give the Hawkeyes a much better long-term outlook
With time against them, Jensen and the program rebuilt the roster with the best players they could acquire within their budget, but most are short-term solutions. Amari Whiting and Dani Carnegie are both seniors, leaving Iowa with Chit-Chat Wright, Taylor Stremlow, and Jada Seubert after next season.
If Seubert stays committed, and Wilson chooses the Hawkeyes, not only does the program have the potential of having one of the best offensive backcourts in the country, but it also gives Iowa solid future guard depth. The roster was decimated by graduations and transfers after the 2025-2026 season, most of them guards, and the program needs to add more guard depth either in the transfer portal or on the recruiting trail to not end up with limited guard options.
Iowa has stayed active in Wilson's recruitment, and it has paid off in a big way. If the Hawkeyes can convince her to come to Iowa City, good luck to every Big Ten team that has to defend Seubert and Wilson on the perimeter.
