Jan Jensen and her staff continue to swing for the fences on the recruiting trail and have been linked to multiple top prospects.
After adding McKenna Woliczko to the 2026 recruiting class, the program has now had back-to-back years of earning commitments from top-20 prospects, and the program is pushing hard to continue that streak. With elite shooter Jada Seubert already committed in the 2027 class, the program has been heavily focused on the 2028 recruiting class.
Iowa continues to be active in 2028 prospect Mya Wilson's recruitment
The Hawkeyes have already jumped back into the fray for Jhaliana Guy, Iowa's No. 1-ranked prospect in the 2028 class, after she recently decommitted from Stanford. Now the program is attempting to bring in another No.1-ranked prospect, this time from Minnesota.

According to On3 Sports' Kyle Huesmann, 2028 combo guard prospect Mya Wilson was recently in Iowa City for an official visit. Wilson made an unofficial visit to campus on January 18 and has now made an official visit. Wilson's recruitment is definitely picking up steam as the program attempts to kickstart the 2028 recruiting class.
Rivals currently ranks Wilson as Minnesota's No. 1 overall prospect and the No. 44 overall prospect in the class, while 247Sports is much more bullish on the potential star. 247Sports composite ranking currently has Wilson as a five-star prospect, which would give Iowa its third straight offseason of signing a five-star prospect if she commits.
It is easy to see why Iowa has been so aggressive in the early stages of recruitment, largely thanks to her elite offense. 247Sports scout Brandon Clay stated that Wilson is a very capable scorer who is also comfortable getting to the basket. She can space the floor with her three-point shooting and also has a solid mid-range shot.
Wilson is steadily establishing herself as a top priority for Jensen and the program, and the Hawkeyes have the potential to be an elite offense in 2028 and beyond.
Adding Wilson would give Iowa a lethal offensive attack
Iowa's offense was solid at times during the 2025 season, thanks to solid post play from Ava Heiden and Hannah Stuelke, but when teams clogged the paint, they didn't have enough shooting to compete. If Wilson commits to the program, that won't be a problem in the future.
Seubert already brings elite shooting in the 2027 class, and Wilson has proven she is also an elite long-range shooter, with stellar mid-range and interior shooting. Seubert and Wilson, paired with current Hawkeye McKenna Woliczko, give Iowa an elite offensive trio for the foreseeable future. There is no guarantee that two early visits give Iowa an edge in her recruitment, but having all three players on the court at the same time would be fun to watch.
Wilson's talent isn't a secret, and even though it's early in the 2028 recruiting cycle, she continues racking up offers from top-level programs. Iowa has shown strong early interest, and hopefully it goes a long way in convincing Wilson to head to Iowa City.
