What a wild ride the year 2025 has been for former Iowa Women's Basketball star Lucy Olsen.
Olsen was a key contributor for the Hawkeyes in Jan Jensen's first season at the helm, averaging a team-leading 17.9 points to go along with 5.1 assists and 3.6 rebounds per game.
After a stellar season for the Hawkeyes, the Washington Mystics selected Olsen with the No. 23 overall pick in the third round of the 2025 WNBA Draft.
Olsen struggled to find her footing early in her professional career, but became a productive member of the Mystics' bench when she got her opportunities.
During her rookie season, Olsen averaged 4.1 points, 1.2 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game.
Now in the WNBA offseason, Olsen took her talents to the land down under to stay ready, and is thriving in the Women's National Basketball League.

In July, it was announced that Olsen was taking her talents to Australia to join the Townsville Fire, and she is having a great start to the season.
The Fire are near the top of the standings, with Olsen putting up 10.7 points, 3.3 assists, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.7 steals per game through their first 10 games.
Townsville was established in 2000 and has four WNBL titles (2015, 2016, 2018, 2023), the most recent coming in 2023.
Olsen is not only gaining valuable reps with a professional organization, but is helping her team achieve success early in the season.
The Washington Mystics are set to get multiple players back next season, including Georgia Amoore, who suffered a season-ending ACL injury during training camp before last season, which may lead to a diminished role for Olsen.
If she continues to thrive in the WNBL, she can prove that she is a valuable asset wherever she plays in the future.
