LET THEM COOK!

Kirk Ferentz and the Iowa program have had an amazing transfer portal cycle, atypical of what the program traditionally does.

Ferentz usually goes after transfers here and there, but we have seen a complete shift during this transfer portal window.

The Hawkeyes have added multiple talented players through the portal, including a talented wide receiver that they snatched from Alabama.

Tony Diaz, a transfer from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, received an offer from the Crimson Tide, but ultimately decided to head north to Iowa City.

As the winds of change begin to blow in the Hawkeye state, the program added another talented transfer, this time at the running back position.

After visiting the program over the weekend, talented transfer running back L.J. Phillips has committed to the Hawkeyes.

Phillips, a transfer from South Dakota, made his way east to Iowa following a dynamic season with the Coyotes.

Phillips was a playmaker all season for the SD offense, becoming the fastest player in program history to eclipse 1,000 yards in a season.

The dynamic running back finished the season leading the FCS in rushing yards with 1,920, and also added 19 rushing touchdowns.

After the season, Phillips was named an FCS First-Team All-American by the American Football Coaches Association and was the highest-graded FCS running back according to Pro Football Focus.

Phillips' electric rushing ability was on full display during a game against Northern Colorado when he rushed for a whopping 301 yards in a 24-17 OT win.

Phillips adds more talent to a solid running back room that returns Kamari Moulton, Xavier Williams, Nathan McNeil, and Brevin Doll.

After joining the Iowa program, Phillips will have two years of eligibility remaining.
