Hawkeye Football is coming off two consecutive Big Ten Conference wins against rivals Wisconsin and Penn State.

The Iowa defense suffocated the anemic Wisconsin offense, forcing three turnovers (two interceptions, one fumble) and not allowing a single point.

The defense was also stellar against Penn State, forcing two more interceptions and two fumbles.

The Hawkeyes started the season slowly, but have found a way to grind out tough games, and are currently tied for third place in the Big Ten Conference with a 3-1 record.

The success of the Hawkeyes this season is due to the outstanding play of both the offensive and defensive lines.

The offensive line has allowed the fewest quarterback pressures this season and has continued to open up big holes for the running game.

On the defensive side of the football, the line continues to pressure the quarterback, and while the stats do not always show up in the boxscore, the defense as a whole has been stellar.

The Iowa defense ranks No. 6 in college football in points allowed (13.7) and ranks No. 8 in total defense (249.4 yards allowed per game).

Over the weekend, the Hawkeyes attempted to keep the tradition of solid defensive line play going by offering 2027 defensive line prospect Nehemiah Ombati.

Ombati already had the chance to see Iowa in person after attending the Cy-Hawk rivalry matchup in Ames on an official visit to Iowa State.

Ombati is a versatile lineman who has already picked up offers from rivals Iowa State and Wisconsin before receiving an offer from the Hawkeyes.

Rivals has ranked Ombati as a four-star recruit, Minnesota's No. 2 overall prospect, the No. 23 defensive line prospect, and the No. 219 overall prospect in the 2027 recruiting class.

247Sports has ranked Ombati as a three-star prospect, Minnesota's No. 3 overall prospect, and the No. 61 defensive line prospect. Their composite ranking also has Ombati as the No. 330 overall player in the 2027 recruiting class.
