We are running out of ways to describe the epic levels of pettiness we are seeing from WNBA players regarding Caitlin Clark.
After being left off the WNBA's 30th-anniversary poster and being throat-punched by Alyssa Thomas, Clark has been in the news for all the wrong reasons, capped off by another stint on the sidelines with an injury. After Thomas' cheap shot on Clark, she has been out with a lingering back issue. Following a challenging few weeks, she was finally back in the headlines for a good reason.
Clark, alongside teammates Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell were named All-Star Game starters, the first time Indiana has had three in franchise history. However, that good feeling quickly evaporated.
WNBA players are still in their feelings after ranking Clark the 11th best player
Ever since entering the league in 2024, the WNBA, coaches, and players have felt some type of way towards her, and the pettiness has lingered into her third season.

Intertwined in the voting results for the 2026 WNBA All-Star Game were the player rankings from the fans, media, and players, with Clark being completely disrespected by her fellow players. Somehow, the players ranked No. 11 overall, with rookie Paige Bueckers taking the top spot. Not taking anything away from Bueckers, but she hasn't even played a full WNBA season, so her ranking from the players is absolutely ludicrous.
It is becoming even more infuriating with every season Clark plays in the WNBA, as she receives more vitriol than most other players. Does A'Ja Wilson receive the same kind of hate? Napheesa Collier? Brianna Stewart? The answer is a resounding no. Clark isn't completely blameless, but she doesn't ask for the extensive media coverage that she receives.
Clark is one of the most recognizable athletes on the planet right now, and the WNBA and its players must recognize that. She is consistently among the league's top revenue sources, including being at or near the top of jersey sales every year, and the league even put all of the Indiana Fever games on national television.
At a basic level, Clark brings in millions of dollars for the league and remains extremely popular with the fans, especially Iowans. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, but the hate and vitriol must stop, and we need to get back to focusing on what truly matters: how she plays. Even though she has missed multiple games due to injuries, she is tied for No. 3 in the league in points per game (21.2), No. 2 in the league in assists per game (8.2), and tied for No. 3 in the league in three-pointers made.
Let's stop pretending she isn't one of the best players in the WNBA and appreciate greatness while we have it.
