The "StremShow" is heading into its second season following a solid freshman campaign. Taylor Stemlow was a bright spot for the Hawkeyes last season and was often one of the first players off the bench for first-year Head Coach Jan Jensen.

Stremlow played in all 34 games (two starts), averaging 2.4 points, 2.1 assists, and 2.5 rebounds in 14.4 minutes per game.

While her numbers do not jump off the page, she was a vocal lead for the Hawkeyes and was a solid secondary ball handler.

Before her second year with the program, Stremlow spoke to the media following the fourth summer practice. She discussed her mindset ahead of her sophomore season, Addie Deal, and the team makeup for next season.

Stremlow is feeling more confident

Stremlow spoke to reporters following day four of practices, and stated sophomore Taylor will be different from freshman Taylor because she has been working hard to improve.

She noted she is doing what she can to be ready for next season and is trying to fill in gaps in her play that she noticed last season.

When she was asked about being called one of the "dogs" on the team last season and how that impacted her leadership, Stremlow stated she is trying to be a consistent voice, and if that makes her a leader, she will take it.

Guidance for freshman Addie Deal

Freshman phenom Addie Deal has been in the national spotlight since high school. She will immediately impact the Hawkeyes, similar to what Stremlow did during her first season in Iowa City.

Stremlow was asked about advice she would give to Deal, and she stated there will be highs and lows, but she always has to try and get better.

She said Deal is "going to be amazing" for the Hawkeyes, and she is used to the spotlight, but she must always work hard.

Depth of the team

Stremlow mentioned that the team's overall strength is its depth. The players have been eager to play and get out on the court, and they will demonstrate their versatility next season.

She stated they have a lot of players that can play multiple positions, and that makes them dangerous.

The team will be extremely deep next season and Head Coach Jan Jensen can mix up lineups to keep opponents guessing.

Whether she is starting or coming off the bench, Stremlow will be a key player for the Hawkeyes as a player and a leader.
