Even though the Hawkeyes could not complete the comeback win against No. 9 Oregon last Saturday, their College Football Playoff hopes are not completely dead just yet.

Iowa has three losses on the season, all to ranked opponents, their latest coming at home against a tough Oregon Ducks squad, which has one of the best offenses in college football.

In a rainy, windy, hard-fought game at Kinnick Stadium, the Hawkeyes held the lead with under two minutes remaining, but Oregon drove down the field and kicked a game-winning field goal with only a few seconds remaining.

After Iowa suffered its third loss of the season, the CFP outlook for the Hawkeyes was bleak, but the committee viewed its most recent loss as a "quality loss," only dropping them one spot in the rankings.

Iowa went from No. 20 in Week One to No. 21 in Week Two, surprising multiple Hawkeye fans.

With a classic line from the popular "Dumb and Dumber" film, Iowa fan Jake Markum said what we were all thinking.

Iowa survived another heartbreaking loss to remain in the CFP Rankings . . .for now.

In a more general outlook on the rest of the season, this Hawkeye fan wants Iowa to win out and let the chips fall where they may.

While most people would disagree with that statement, as long as Iowa is in the field, the committee indeed knows ball.

Iowa Football fans are thrilled that the squad remained in the CFP Rankings for another week, and they have a prime opportunity to earn their first win against a ranked opponent since 2021 when they travel to California to take on the USC Trojans.
