The annual Cy-Hawk Showdown is here and Hawkeye fans are ready and excited to get another win in the win column in this in-state rivalry. Iowa currently leads the all-time series 47-23 and walked away with a solid win last year.

Both Iowa and Iowa State struggled in the first half against their opponents in the first game of the season but were able to pull it together in the second half. Cade McNamara really stepped up in the second until he was pulled in the fourth quarter once the Hawkeyes were up by enough. McNamara only had one incompletion in the second half along with three touchdowns.

The last time Iowa and Iowa State faced off in Iowa City, the Cyclones broke a six-game losing streak and took down the Hawkeyes at home. Over the last three games, Iowa's offense has been the name of the game with the Hawkeyes not allowing the Cyclones to score more than 10 points. The defense looked like it was in mid-season form in Week 1 and the offense was able to pull it together in the end.

This game is important first off for the bragging rights, but this game, if the Hawkeyes win, would be a big game for their resume to try and get into the College Football Playoff.
