Caitlin Clark is her. We all know it, there is no denying it, she is a legend. Clark is a hometown kid born in Iowa who chose to stay close to home and play for the Hawkeyes and has not only put Iowa women's basketball on the map but women's basketball and sports on the map.
Clark did what we all knew she was going to do last night. She broke the all-time leading scoring record in NCAA women's basketball that was held by Kelsey Plum for seven years, and she did it in the most Caitlin Clark way possible.
Breaking records is nothing new for Clark as she holds so many already in her four years at Iowa. What is even crazier is that because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Clark could choose to return to Iowa next season and continue to build her lead on the all-time scoring list.
So how many records does Clark already own? Well here is her very impressive resume.
- All-time leading scorer in NCAA Women's Basketball (3,569 points)
- All-time leading scorer in the Big 10 for both men's and women's basketball (3,569 points)
- All-time leading scorer in Iowa basketball history (3,569 points)
- All-time leader in 3-pointers made Iowa basketball history (487)
- All-time leader in assists in Iowa basketball history (1,018)
- Record for most points in a single season in Iowa basketball history (1,055 points)
- Record for most 3-pointers in a single season in Iowa basketball history (140 and counting)
- Record for most assists in a single season in Iowa basketball history (327)
- Record for most points in a single game in Iowa basketball history (49 points)
It seems like there is almost nothing else Clark could break, but there are a few records out there she hasn't broken but is definitely on track for.
Clark, especially if she decided to stay at Iowa for one more season can take all of these records, but a couple of them she still can break in the last four games of the regular season.
- All-time leading scoring in NCAA basketball history (3,668 points)
- All-time leader in 3-pointers made in Big 10 basketball history (497)
- All-time assists leader in NCAA basketball history (1,307)
- Most points in a single season (1,109 points)
Caitlin Clark is rewriting history with the way she is playing, and what is crazy is that she really is just getting started.
