Iowa's non-conference play could have gone a little differently if head coach Kirk Ferentz had just kicked the extra point against Iowa State. However, there is nothing the Hawkeyes can do about that now as they prepare to start Big Ten play, and this is a game all Iowa fans circled on the schedule when it came out.

Every Iowa fan knows about the fair catch in the Minnesota game last season, but just in case you missed it, here is what happened. When the Hawkeyes hosted Minnesota last season, punt returner Cooper DeJean was fielding a punt with under two minutes left in the game as Iowa was down 12-10. DeJean was pointing at the ball with one hand and waiving off his teammates with the other. He fielded the ball adn ran it back for a touchdown, but upon review, officials said DeJean signaled a fair catch with the waiving of his hand.

Iowa would go on to lose the game and a big part of it was that called back touchdown. While the call was wrong, Iowa was still able to win the division and play in the Big Ten Championship.

Now it is 2024 and it is time to move on from that call, but the Hawkeyes can still use it for some revenge fuel if they so choose to. This week's matchup against Minnesota should be a good one as both teams come in with a 201 record and are playing at night on NBC.
