Just a few days before the Hawkeyes play their first-round game against Clemson, a former member of the program made his NBA debut.
The Oklahoma City Thunder signed Payton Sandfort to a two-way contract after he went undrafted last year, and Sandfort has made the most of his opportunity.
The Thunder have been ravaged by injuries this season, with almost everyone going down at one point, giving Sandfort a chance to make his NBA debut and score his first points in the league against Brooklyn on March 18.
Before boarding the plane to New York, Sandfort gave his picks to win the NCAA Tournament, and it shouldn't be a surprise who he chose.
Sandfort picked Iowa, Nebraska, and Penn to win the NCAA Tournament
A long-time member of the Iowa basketball program, it was no surprise that Sandfort picked the Hawkeyes as one of his choices to win, alongside Nebraska and Penn.

Iowa was the obvious choice, but Sandfort also included Nebraska, where his brother Pryce Sandfort currently plays, and Penn, where his former head coach, Fran McCaffery, is the head coach.
All three teams are back in the Tournament after failing to make the field last season, with Nebraska having a chance to finally get out from under their 0-8 record in the Tournament all-time with a win over Troy in the first round.
Iowa and Penn have much more challenging first-round games against (8) Clemson and (3) Illinois, respectively.
Sandfort's three picks to win it all should not be a surprise, but outside of Nebraska, it is hard to see a path for two of his three picks.
Sorry, Hawkeye fans.
