One Hawkeye was completely disrespected by a recent All-American team list

There are five credited outlets outlets that have the ability to determine consensus All-American status, and most are in agreement on a few Hawkeyes.

Iowa has been filling up the award lists over the past few weeks, and two players on the squad have racked up more distinctions than the others.

Senior center Logan Jones has earned the Rimington Trophy as the nation's best center, and has also been named a First-Team All-American by Walter Camp, the Athletic, the AP, and USA Today.

He also earned a Second-Team designation by CBS Sports.

Kaden Wetjen is the other Hawkeye who has compiled an impressive amount of awards ahead of bowl season, including being named a First-Team All-American by Walter Camp, CBS Sports, and USA Today.

Both players earned another All-American selection by AFCA, but Wetjen was somehow not given a First-Team distinction.

Logan Jones earned another First-Team All-American selection, making him a consensus All-American, but Wetjen was named to the Second-Team.

It does not make sense that Wetjen was named to the second team when he outplayed AFCA's First-Team selection in every category.

AFCA ave the First-Team selection to Texas A&M's KC Concepcion, and even though he had a solid season for the Aggies, his stats don't even come close to the numbers that Wetjen put up.

Concepcion compiled 460 punt return yards and two touchdowns on 24 punt returns, and did not return any kickoffs.

Wetjen tallied 965 total return yards (538 punt, 427 kick) and four total touchdowns (three punt, one kick) on 33 total returns (19 punt, 14 kick).

If the award was for the best all-around player, Concepcion has a case for the designation, but to label it "specialist"Β and not give it to Wetjen is ludicrous.

It makes us wonder what criteria some of these "experts" look at when deciding who will earn a spot on which team.

Do better AFCA.
