The hits keep on coming for Hawkeye Football.
Iowa traveled to Ames to take on Iowa State in the 72nd game of the annual Cy-Hawk series, and they lost in heartbreakingly close fashion.
The game was a defensive struggle where neither team could gain an advantage. In the end, Iowa State had a sustained drive to set up the game-winning 54-yard field goal.
The Iowa passing attack struggled once again as starting quarterback Mark Gronowski could not push the ball downfield to any of his receivers.
During the loss, Iowa lost its starting tight end, Addison Ostrenga, following a play in the first quarter. After Ostrenga was helped to the sideline, everyone feared the worst, and those fears were confirmed on Tuesday.
Iowa tight end Addison Ostrenga will miss the rest of the season with an Achilles’ tendon injury, per coach Kirk Ferentz. Ostrenga had surgery to repair the Achilles on Monday.

ESPN's Adam Rittenberg reported that Ostrenga suffered a torn Achilles and will miss the remainder of the season.
According to Iowa Head Coach Kirk Ferentz, Ostrenga already had surgery to repair the damaged Achilles on Monday.
As the Iowa passing attack continues to struggle, losing Ostrenga for the season will further cripple an already subpar passing attack.
Ostrenga started both games for the Hawkeyes this season, catching one pass for eight yards during Iowa's Week One win against Albany.
During his four years in Iowa City, Ostrenga has accumulated 320 receiving yards and three touchdowns on 48 receptions in 35 games.
With Ostrenga sidelined for the rest of the season, the Hawkeyes will turn to Zach Ortwerth and Hayden Large to carry the weight offensively.
The Hawkeyes do have five other tight ends on the roster, but they are all freshmen and it is unclear who Ferentz and his staff will use as a third-string tight end.
