The Hawkeyes went into Madison, Wisconsin and beat the brakes off the Badgers in the battle for the Heartland Trophy.
Iowa played well in all three phases of the game, forcing three turnovers on defense (two interceptions, one fumble), and putting up 37 points on offense with a dynamic rushing attack.
The result of the game was never in doubt after the Hawkeyes' defense forced interceptions on back-to-back possessions. Both interceptions resulted in touchdowns that gave Iowa a commanding 17-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.
What was in doubt was the status of starting quarterback Mark Gronowski heading into Saturday night's kickoff at Camp Randall Stadium.
The veteran signal caller was injured during a scramble in the fourth quarter of the Indiana game and was listed as a game-time decision heading into the rivalry matchup with Wisconsin.
Gronowski was ultimately able to go, and played most of the game.
After Saturday's dominating 37-0 victory over the Badgers, Gronowski stated he did not feel limited in any capacity during the game.
During Gronowski's postgame media availability (posed by "247Sports"), he discussed how he felt leading up to the game and how he is feeling after.
With "Jump Around" blaring in the background from the Hawkeyes' locker room, Gronowski stated that he felt good and planned all week like he was going to be the starting quarterback.
He noted that Saturday's game was not his best, but the executed well up front and in the run game, and he was pleased with the overall performance of the offense.
Gronowski also stated that he did not feel any lingering effects from the injury, but it is all about getting his strength back and managing any future pain each week.
