Another big game for Iowa Football, and another heartbreaking loss.

The No. 20 Hawkeyes soared into the first College Football Playoff (CFP) Rankings after not being ranked in the AP Top 25 poll, and had a prime chance to shake up the playoff picture.

Iowa once again fell short in a big game, losing 18-16 to No. 9 Oregon, and will likely see its final ranking this season.

The Hawkeyes were plagued by sloppy play on offense and special teams, including two horrendous snaps on punt attempts and a fumble by Kaden Wetjen as the offense was driving.

The usually stout Iowa defense also failed to stop Oregon's rushing attack, allowing 261 yards on the ground.

Iowa has now suffered three heartbreaking losses, all of which came after it had a lead with two minutes or less to go in the game.

Despite another heartbreaking loss this season, Iowa Head Coach Kirk Ferentz still believes the squad has a lot in front of them this season.

During his postgame press conference, Ferentz stated he is happy with the effort of the squad, and this game was emblematic of November football in the Big Ten Conference.

It was a smashmouth, hard-fought game that ultimately ended in Iowa's third loss this season, effectively ending all hopes of a Big Ten title or CFP appearance, but Ferentz still feels there is a lot in front of them.

He praised Oregon for executing when they needed to and stated that when you play well, you expect tight games.

The Hawkeyes must regroup and not allow one heartbreaking loss to turn into two as the squad travels to California for a game against Southern California next weekend.
