Iowa Head Coach Kirk Ferentz has been in Iowa City for a long time, and he recalls the last time Oregon came to Kinnick Stadium.

Hint: it did not go well for the Hawkeyes.

During the 1989 season, the Hawkeyes welcomed a relatively unknown Oregon squad to Kinnick Stadium and got blown out at home.

Oregon dominated the game from start to finish, earning a 44-6 win, and holding the Hawkeyes to only 26 total rushing yards.

Even though Ferentz was only the offensive line coach at the time, he vividly remembers how good Oregon was back then and knows they are better now.

During his weekly press conference, Ferentz stated that the team had a productive bye week, but they are bracing for a tough four-game stretch to end the season.

Oregon is a talented team that presents multiple challenges for opposing offenses and defenses, and Ferentz is trying to keep his guys focused on the what they are doing.

There has been a lot of media attention and outside noise surrounding Saturday's matchup in Kinnick Stadium, and Ferentz wants to keep his team focused, rather than being distracted by "stupid stuff."

Ferentz stated there is a reason they have only lost two games in two years: they're good.

He also noted that Indiana was able to best them in their matchup because they found ways to make unpredictable plays, which the Hawkeyes will try to emulate on Saturday.

Iowa is solely focused on Oregon this week and is blocking out all the outside buzz surrounding this game.
