After working her way back from an injury and being waived by the Golden State Valkyries before the season, everything is trending in the right direction for Kate Martin.

She was waived after suffering an injury during preseason workouts, creating significant uncertainty about her future in the WNBA. Martin has established herself as a solid reserve with her leadership, versatility, and tenacity, but her numbers haven't jumped off the page. Luckily, she signed a developmental contract with the LA Sparks, which the organization converted into a standard WNBA contract.

Now with her future solidified for a least this season, the fans couldn't be happier.

Martin is in LA to stay, and fans couldnt' be happier

Dating back to her time with the Iowa women's basketball program, Martin has always endeared herself to fans with her work ethic and blue-collar style of play, and that has continued at all three of her WNBA stops. Fans have made it clear that they love "Money" Martin, and they are showing their support after the news of her contract conversion.

A simple but effective response to the Los Angeles Sparks' official X account. Martin hasn't been with the organization long, but has found ways to make an impact.

Gary won't get any arguments from Hawkeye or Sparks fans as Martin has earned her place on the squad for the rest of the season.

Just another example of the kind of support that Martin receives on a regular basis. It doesn't matter where she goes; she always has a dedicated fan following.

Martin has worked hard to get to where she is, and even though most things in life are earned, not deserved, Martin deserves a chance.

Congratulations, indeed. Martin has officially found a new home in Los Angeles, and fans are hoping she is there to stay.

Martin's status as a fan favorite isn't going to change any time soon

If the aftermath of Martin's contract being converted has taught us anything, it's that whereverMartin is, she brings fans with her while creating new ones. People will question why the Sparks converted her contract at the expense of Ta'Niya Latson, given Martin's low usage and accompanying low stats. Martin earns her spot thanks to her intangibles like offensive and defensive versatility and leadership, which the box score doesn't show.

She also earns the majority of her fans that way, proving she will do anything for the team and organization to help them succeed. As long as she continues working hard, she will have a place in the WNBA, and good on the Sparks for seeing that.
