The Iowa offense will look drastically different this season with star running back Kaleb Johnson and a completely revamped quarterback room.
The quarterback position was a revolving door for the Hawkeyes last season, and the program addressed the need for a sure-fire No. 1 option under center.
The Hawkeyes added star quarterback Mark Gronowski from South Dakota State following a solid 2024-2025 campaign and a stellar four-year career for the Jackrabbits.
With Gronowski under center, the Iowa offense can open up the playbook in the second year with offensive coordinator Tim Lester at the helm due to Gronowski's passing and running ability.
It remains to be seen if Iowa will change its style of offense due to having a more competent quarterback. If they revert to the normal Iowa offense, a solid running game will be a necessity next season.
The running back room is projected to be deeper this season with at least four Hawkeyes vying for carries, but Kamari Moulton has the early leg up on the rest of the group.
Head Coach Kirk Ferentz has not officially named a starter for next season, but Moulton is projected to be the starter, and is already receiving recognition.

Moulton was named to the preseason Doak Walker Award watch list. The Doak Walker Award is given annually to the best running back in college football. This season is the 35th anniversary of the award.
Moulton had a solid season for the Hawkeye offense last year as the primary backup to Kaleb Johnson.
During the 2024-2025 season, Moulton tallied 473 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 84 carries.
With all the hype surrounding Gronowski and the new-look Iowa offense, Moulton is just focused on one thing: winning.
Moulton told the media after a summer practice that all he wants to do is win, and he is fine with a running back by committee approach if that is the most effective way to win.
Moulton feels that each of the running backs in the group brings something different to the table, and they all play off of each other very well.
The Iowa offense has the potential to be multi-faceted this season for the first time in a long time, and that starts with a successful running game led by Kamari Moulton.
