After three disappointing outcomes, the Hawkeyes are fully back on track.
Following Taylor McCabe's season-ending injury, Iowa lost three straight games, and everything was starting to go sideways.
Head coach Jan Jensen chalked most of the early struggles to losing McCabe as a leader and steadying presence on the floor, but the Hawkeyes have righted the ship after a three-game slide.
After getting back on track, Iowa followed that performance with an even better one against rival Nebraska on the road in Lincoln.
Iowa dominated from start to finish, knocking off the Cornhuskers 80-67, with sophomore center Ava Heiden leading the way.
Heiden finished with a team-leading 27 points and 11 rebounds, and Jan Jensen believes she has only scratched the surface of her true potential so far.
Jensen stated that Heiden is 'just beginning' to realize her full potential
Heiden's latest performance further proves how much of a leap she has taken from her freshman to sophomore seasons, and Jensen knows she has not completely tapped into her full potential.
Jan Jensen thinks Ava Heiden (27 points at Nebraska) is just scratching the surface: “Any good post player, if you give them the ball where they need it at the right time, you can be pretty accurate. We've been working a lot on that timing. Her athleticism and her foot speed is…

Jensen knows how fast and athletic Heiden is, and as she continues working on her timing, she will fully realize her true potential.
Heiden is currently leading the squad in points (16.4) and is second in rebounds (7.2) to only Hannah Stuelke (8.9), but Jensen still thinks it is just the beginning.
Heiden has relied solely on her athleticism and speed to overwhelm opponents, and when she is locked in, she is hard to beat.
To take the next step in her development, Heiden and the coaching staff, along with the rest of the squad, are working to put her in the best position to succeed.
If she nails down the timing aspect of her game, she is going to be even better than she is now.
