More good news for the Hawkeyes after a successful two game road trip in Orlando.

The Iowa Women's Basketball squad headed to Orlando for the WBCA Showcase last weekend and made the most of their opportunity against two good teams.

In their first true tests of the season, the Hawkeyes passed with flying colors after upsetting No. 7 Baylor last Thursday and defeating Miami (FL) on Saturday night.

Even though it was not pretty at times, Iowa had multiple players step up when it mattered most, including sophomore center Ava Heiden.

Heiden was named the MVP of the Showcase after averaging 18.0 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.

The bottom line is that the Hawkeyes have remained perfect at 6-0 to start the season and have two more tune-up games before the Big Ten Conference schedule begins.

After returning from Orlando, the Hawkeyes not only added two wins to their resume but also soared eight spots in the most recent AP Top 25 rankings.

Iowa was the biggest riser in the top 25 rankings this week, moving from No. 19 to No. 11, just behind arch rival Iowa State, which moved into the top 10.

Through six games this season, the Hawkeyes have been stellar on both ends of the court, ranking No. 33 overall in scoring offense (83.3 points per game) and No. 20 in scoring defense per game (51.0 points per game).

Their scoring margin of 32.2 points per game to start the season is also ranked No. 16 overall.

Iowa has two more tune-up games at home against Western Illinois (Nov. 26) and Fairfield (Nov. 20) before heading to Piscataway, New Jersey, to battle Rutgers for its first Big Ten Conference matchup of the season.
