Iowa Women's Basketball: so hot right now!

The Hawkeye women have come out of the gates fast to start the 2025-2026 regular season, and they remain perfect to begin the year.

Iowa's depth has been on display as three fabulous freshmen and multiple other players have made solid contributions for the Hawkeyes this season.

The Hawkeyes currently own a 9-0 (1-0 Big Ten) record with big wins over in-state rivals Drake and Northern Iowa, and another huge win over No. 7 Baylor.

Through their first nine games of the season, the Hawkeyes have used a post-focused offense and length on defense to keep opponents at arm's length.

As Iowa continues to rack up wins, its ranking rises, climbing one spot in the most recent AP Top 25 ahead of a pivotal rivalry matchup against No. 10 Iowa State.

Iowa now sits at No. 11 in the most recent rankings, and will put that top-15 ranking to the test when they face one of its toughest opponents all season in Ames on Wednesday.

Iowa State has the nation's leading scorer in Audi Crooks, who no one has been able to stop through the first part of the season.

Crooks is averaging 27.6 points per game, and will be handful for the Iowa post players in the paint.

The Hawkeyes have been holding teams to an average of 53.7 points per game with their size and rebounding prowess, but Crooks and the Cyclones in Hilton Coliseum will challenge that.

The Iowa-Iowa State clash at Hilton will be one of the biggest games of the year for the young Hawkeyes and could be an instant classic.
