While the Hawkeyes have not announced their official starter at quarterback after the departure, they are set up for multiple years of future success with young talent.
Mark Gronowski was the starter in every game last season after transferring from South Dakota State, but he is not the only transfer the Hawkeyes brought in.
Hank Brown (Auburn) and Jeremy Hecklinski (Wake Forest) also transferred in, with Jimmy Sullivan (2025 recruiting class) and Tradon Bessinger (2026 recruiting class) also on the roster next season
Brown will be the oldest quarterback on the roster as a junior, and the Hawkeyes are pushing hard to add more young quarterback talent to the roster in 2027.
Iowa offered 2027 Florida QB prospect Davin Davidson
Even with a lot of young talent in the quarterback room, the Hawkeyes are trying to capitalize on their recent momentum by offering a rising star in the 2027 recruiting class.

Sarasota, Florida, native Davin Davidson announced he received an offer from Hawkeye football after a meeting with offensive coordinator Tim Lester.
It was more than just a simple meeting as Lester went to Davidson's home and observed a throwing session, suggesting that the Hawkeyes are very interested in Davidson.
Davidson is a pure gunslinger as a quarterback and as a pitcher for Cardinal Mooney High School, and had a solid season last year as a junior for both programs.
He compiled 2,360 passing yards and 23 touchdowns as a quarterback, and touched the upper 80's with his fastball as a pitcher for the baseball team.
Davidson has the size (six-foot-six, 215 pounds) and athleticism to be a contributor on a Power Four program, and he has started racking up offers.
He currently holds offers from Duke, Iowa, Florida, Florida State, and Miami among others.
247Sports has ranked Davidson as a three-star prospect, Florida's No. 89 prospect, and the No. 68 overall prospect in the 2027 recruiting class.
