The bad news keeps rolling in for the Iowa Men's Wrestling program. Over the weekend, the Hawkeye program lost highly touted 2026 prospect Bo Bassett.
After rumors that Bassett was considering leaving the Hawkeyes program, he reversed his commitment.
Bo and his family were rumored to be unhappy with the program following disputes regarding payments and accommodations for the training he wanted in Iowa City.
The Iowa program stated that they were making unrealistic requests of the program, and they turned them down. The Bassetts did not mention this and only noted the program was not the right fit for Bo.
After Bo decommitted from the program, another top ranked recruit from Bishop McCort Catholic Academy removed the Hawkeyes from his list of top destinations.

Melvin Miller, the 2027 class's No. 1 overall recruit, removed Iowa from his top destinations list. Miller initially had Iowa on a list of nine potential destinations, including Arizona State, Michigan, Missouri, Oklahoma State, Penn State, Pittsburgh, NC State, and Nebraska.
Miller, the younger brother and teammate of Bo Bassett, immediately struck Iowa from his list after Bassett's decommittment.
Miller had Iowa on his list, and even with powerhouses Penn State and Oklahoma State, it was rumored he would follow his older brother to Iowa. It was rumored Miller wanted to go to Iowa, and the relationship was fractured after Bo reopened his recruitment.
Bassett, Miller, and Oklahoma State commit Jax Forrest are all teammates at Bishop McCort, giving the Cowboys the inside track to signing the two superstars. Penn State is also projected to be a top destination for the duo.
