Offensive lineman Beau Stephens, like many Iowa players in the past, waited his turn to prove what he could do as a starter, and he took full advantage during his final two seasons.

After redshirting his freshman season, Stephens became a crucial part of the Iowa offensive line unit that finished as semifinalists for the Joe Moore Award in 2024 and winners of the award in 2025.

Stephens missed most of 2023 with an injury, but he persevered and earned the team's comeback player of the year award in 2024.

While everyone saw how great Stephens was on the field, no one saw what he was going through off the field and mentally. Stephens believes that overcoming those challenges will be what he is remembered for.

His ability to overcome adversity will be Stephens legacy

Stephens opened up about his story and journey to overcoming adversity throughout his playing career, and he believes it can be a blueprint for other players.

Stephens acknowledged his ongoing battle with mental health challenges and ADHD, and believes that sharing his story can help other players do the same.

He noted that his leadership style focused heavily on sharing what he has been through, because he knows there is someone out there who can relate or who has been in his shoes.

Stephens' journey has not always been easy, and he is doing his best to help others dealing with similar issues.

Even though Stephens' collegiate journey has come to an end, he has a bright future in the NFL as an elite zone blocker who can excel at either the guard or center position if he is in the right system.
