After 15-year Head Coach Fran McCaffery was fired on March 14, new Head Coach Ben McCollum was charged with rebuilding the roster, including recruiting prospects.
After McCaffery and Iowa parted ways, the Hawkeyes lost three prospects in the 2025 recruiting class, and their only 2026 recruit. All four prospects were committed to former Coach McCaffery.
McCollum and his staff added two recruits to the 2025 class after flipping Trevin Jirak, an in-state prospect and 2025 Iowa Mr. Basketball, from Northern Iowa and Tate Sage from Drake.
On Tuesday, McCollum and his staff made a move to rebuild their 2026 recruiting class.
After a great conversation with Coach Shaw, I am blessed to announce that I have been re-offered from The University Of Iowa under head Coach McCollum! #gohawkeyes @LinkHoops @MokanBasketball pic.twitter.com/VoFrewGr9A

After initially receiving an offer from McCaffery and visiting Iowa last fall, 2026 prospect Tristan Reed announced he has received a second offer from Iowa.
Reed, a six-foot-nine power foward prospect, is a highly coveted recruit from St. Louis, Missouri. Reed recently took his talents to the Nike EYBL circuit to showcase his abilities.
During session one of the Nike EYBL circuit, Reed averaged 10.0 points on 68 percent shooting and 4.3 rebounds, guiding MOKAN Basketball to a 2-1 record.
Reed does most of his damage in the paint and is working on developing his jump shot from the outside.
Reed is a raw prospect who is most effective as a rebounder. If he can develop a consistent jumper to stretch the defense, he will be more effective at the college level.
On3 Sports has ranked Reed as a four-star prospect and the No. 19 (No. 110 overall) power forward prospect in the 2026 recruiting class.
247 Sports is higher on Reed, ranking him as a four-star prospect, but has him as the No. 16 (No. 66 overall) power forward prospect.
