New Iowa Men's Basketball Head Coach Ben McCollum has been actively engaged in the community and the media since he arrived on campus at the end of March. McCollum has been adamant that Hawkeye fans are a big part of the program's rebuild.

After McCollum took over, nearly all of the players on the roster left the program and he had to rebuild the program with the help of his new staff.

Over the weekend, CBS Sports' Jon Rothstein interviewed McCollum, who stated he wants to recruit players with the right mental makeup and develop them from within. McCollum also noted that most recruits choose the school that recruits them the hardest and do not pick the best fit.

He wants to ensure that prospects have the right character traits and Iowa is the right fit before the program makes an offer.

After meeting with two 2027 prospects over the weekend, the program made offers to both recruits.

Donovan Davis, power forward (Kaukauna, Wisconsin)

One of the top prospects in the 2027 recruiting class, and the No. 1 ranked Wisconsin recruit, Donovan Davis, announced he received an offer from the Iowa program after a successful meeting with new Iowa assistant coach Josh Sash.

Davis is an ultra-talented prospect that has risen up recruiting boards. He is a six-foot-seven, 200-pound forward prospect that is highly-regarded by most ranking organizations.

On3 Sports ranked Davis as a four-star prospect, Wisconsin's No. 2 prospect, and the No. 76 overall prospect in the 2027 recruiting class.

247 Sports also ranked Davis as a four-star prospect but as Wisconsin's No. 1 prospect and the No. 44 overall prospect in the 2027 recruiting class. He is currently unranked by ESPN and Rivals.

As a sophomore at Freedom High School last season, Davis averaged 22.7 points, 12.0 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 2.8 steals per game. He also shot 65.7 percent from the field and 37.5 percent from beyond the three-point line.

Jack Kohnen, guard/forward (Slinger, Wisconsin)

Iowa Men's Basketball also offered hybrid guard/forward prospect, Jack Kohnen. Kohnen was the second Wisconsin prospect to receive an offer from the Hawkeyes following a weekend meeting.

Kohnen is a six-foot-six, 205-pound prospect from Slinger High School in Slinger, Wisconsin, and is closely ranked to fellow Wisconsin prospect Donovan Davis.

On3 Sports Industry ranked Kohnen as a three-star prospect, Wisconsin's No. 3 prospect, and the No. 91 overall player in the 2027 recruiting class.

247 Sports also ranked Kohnen as a three-star prospect, but Wisconsin's No. 4 prospect, and the No. 93 overall prospect in the 2027 recruiting class.

Kohnen was a star for Slinger High School last season. During his sophomore season, he averaged a league-leading 23.1 points, with 12.1 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game.
