Ben McCollum announced that assistant coach Josh Sash is joining his staff after coaching with him at Drake last season.
Sash, an Oskaloosa, Iowa native, joined McCollum's staff at Drake with 20 years of coaching experience. Before joining McCollum at Drake, Sash was the head coach at Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) (2019-2020) and Indian Hills Community College (2023-2024).
In his lone season at Indian Hills Community College, Sash led the Warriors to a 29-6 record, including their second consecutive trip to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Men's Basketball Championship.
Before being named the head coach at Indian Hills, Sash was successful in his only season as head coach of DMACC. He led the DMACC to a 29-4 record, including an Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) regular season and conference tournament titles.
Sash received the NJCAA Coach of the Year award after the 2019-2020 season.
Sash is also the older brother of legendary Iowa Hawkeye Football player Tyler Sash, who played for the Hawkeyes from 2008 to 2010.

Bryston Williams joins McCollum's staff at Iowa after spending time with him as an assistant coach at Drake. Williams was one of McCollum's first college recruits in 2009 when he played for Northwest Missouri State.
Williams played in 112 games, starting in 71 for Northwest Missouri State under McCollum.
Before joining McCollum's staff at Drake, Williams was an assistant coach at Wyoming (2023-2024) and Indiana State (2021-2023). He also had stints in the NBA and the NBA D-League (now called G-League).
Williams was an assistant coach for the Detroit Pistons from 2018-2022. He was charged with the team's mechanical shooting program, film breakdown, pre/post-practice workouts, and postgame reports.
Williams was also an assistant in the G-League with the Memphis Hustle (2017-2018) and the Iowa Energy (2016-2017).
