The bad news for the Wake Forest men's basketball program could be great news for the Iowa Hawkeyes.
After taking over for Fran McCaffery last March, Ben McCollum had to rebuild the Iowa roster from the ground up with only two returning players (Cooper Koch and Jacob Koch).
Luckily for McCollum, he added four talented players in the 2025 recruiting class, including Trey Thompson, Trevin Jirak, Tate Sage, and Peyton McCollum, but his future recruiting classes are extremely bare.
Excluding forward Ethan Harris, McCollum has no other committed prospects in the 2026 recruiting class, but that could change after a former top target is back on the market.
2026 guard Quentin Coleman has reopened his recruitment
After signing his national letter of intent to play basketball at Wake Forest, Quentin Coleman is back on the market after decommitting from the Demon Deacons program.

According to ESPN's director of scouting, Paul Biancardi, Coleman was released from his letter of intent by Wake Forest and is back on the open market.
Before Coleman committed to the Demon Deacons, he had interest in Illinois, Iowa, St. Louis, Texas A&M, and Texas Tech before ultimately choosing Wake Forest.
Coleman is one of the top Missouri prospects and has recently shot up recruiting boards, prompting questions surrounding how much he could potentially make by reopening his recruitment.
During his senior season for The Principia School in St. Louis, Missouri, Coleman averaged 22.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 2.5 steals per game.
He shot an impressive 63 percent from the field and 49 percent from three-point range, prompting his rise up the rankings.
Rivals currently ranks Coleman as a four-star prospect, Missouri's No. 1 overall prospect, the No. 7 overall shooting guard prospect, and the No. 20 overall prospect in the 2026 recruiting class.
If Iowa can jump back into the mix for Coleman, they could pair him with Ethan Harris and have a dynamic duo for as long as both players stay in college.
