Don't look now, but the Iowa bats are heating up!

"Heller Ball" has been in full effect this season as the Hawkeyes continue scoring runs without the benefit of the long ball.

Iowa scored 17 total runs against Illinois, hitting only three home runs, but they batted 0.250 as a team in the series.

As a team, Iowa ranks No. 14 in the Big Ten in home runs with 49 total, but that hasn't stopped them from scoring runs and putting up solid offensive numbers this season.

Iowa has proven it doesn't need the HR ball to be successful on offense

The Hawkeyes are heating up, and after sweeping Indiana last weekend, they took two of three from Illinois this weekend.

Iowa has now won back-to-back Big Ten series, winning five of six total games in the two series.

The Hawkeyes have relied on timely hits and solid defense to get the job done, and they have done so all season.

Iowa ranks in the top five in the Big Ten in most offensive categories, including batting average (.309 -No. 1 overall), total hits (483 - No. 5 overall), and OPS (0.901 - No. 4 overall) through 46 games this season.

The bats have been consistently good all season, and if the Hawkeyes want to make a deep postseason run, that must continue.

The pitching staff has been inconsistent at best this season, but luckily for the Hawkeyes, they have been solid at the plate and in the field.

Iowa has an important stretch of games on the horizon with a three-game series at Nebraska in Lincoln and a three-game series against Purdue at Principal Park in Des Moines.
