Ben McCollum's transfer portal strategy has become extremely clear as the program continues to schedule multiple meetings with transfer players.

The program has shown interest in multiple guards with varying skillsets, but have only reportedly met with one guard through the early stages of the transfer portal window.

The program reportedly met with talented freshman guard Ace Glass, and they aren't stopping there.

In an effort to fill the massive void left by Bennett Stirtz, the program continues to show interest in high-scoring guards with a similar skill set.

The Hawkeyes have reportedly shown interest in South Dakota transfer Isaac Bruns

With a lack of guard depth looming over the program, the Hawkeyes have reportedly shown interest in a high-scoring guard who left the South Dakota program after suffering a foot injury at the end of January.

According to The Athletic's Tobias Bass, Iowa has reached out to South Dakota Coyotes transfer guard Isaac Bruns.

Bruns missed the final few months of the 2025-2026 season with a foot injury, but when healthy, he was the top-scoring option for the Coyotes.

In 20 games as a starter, Bruns led the Coyotes in scoring with 20.8 points per game on a stellar 44.7 percent shooting from the field and 39.2 percent from beyond the arc. He also added 5.1 rebounds per game and was solid defensively.

He was tied for second on the team in steals per game at 1.2, proving he got it done on both ends of the court.

Bruns did a little bit of everything for South Dakota last season, similar to what Stirtz did for Iowa, and if he returns to full strength and isn't suffering any ill effects from his injury, he could be a great fit for the Hawkeyes.
