Kirk Ferentz and Co. are swinging for the fences in the 2027 recruiting class after offering a top-25 athlete in the class.

While the Iowa offense has been making good strides under Tim Lester, the passing game is still nowhere near where it should be, and the program is diligently trying to fix that.

During the offseason, the program brought in transfer wide receivers Tony Diaz (UTRGV), Evan James (Furman), and Lance Beeghley (SMU) to address that issue, and they are now attempting to lock down a talented Memphis WR prospect.

Lawrence Britt's elite athleticism could be a major addition to the WR room

Even though it feels very strange to say, Iowa's wide receiver room could be one of the most talented rooms next season.

With three solid transfer portal additions to pair with Reece Vander Zee and Dayton Howard, the group is easily four deep, and it could be even better with the addition of Lawrence Britt.

Britt's elite speed and athleticism were on full display during his junior season last year, leading to multiple blue-blood programs offering him.

Britt is a gifted athlete and a versatile two-way player who lined up at defensive back, running back, and wide receiver last season, with his best position being receiver.

In a scouting report from 247Sports' Andrew Ivins, he stated that Britt has some work to do on his route running, but he gets open based on his superior athleticism.

He also stated that Britt is tough to tackle in the backfield or out wide, thanks to his vision and agility, allowing him to get past defenders with his cuts and change of direction.

Last season for Lausanne Collegiate School, Britt tallied 696 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns, while also adding 299 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns.

247Sports has ranked Britt as a four-star prospect, Tennessee's No. 10 overall prospect, the No. 13 overall athlete prospect, and the No. 233 overall prospect in the 2027 recruiting class.
