Iowa fans continue to show overwhelming support for women's basketball

Iowa Women's Basketball is reaching heights in Jan Jensen's second year in charge that even legendary Head Coach Lisa Bluder did not achieve with the program.

Jensen is no stranger to the program, having been a part of the program for 26 years.

The meteoric rise of superstar Caitlin Clark brought more eyes to the program than anyone thought possible, but Iowa women's basketball fans continue to show up and support the program after she headed to the WNBA.

Since Clark's senior season (2024), season tickets at Carver-Hawkeye Arena have sold out each year, proving how dedicated the Iowa fanbase is.

Iowa fans not only show up in person, but are near the top in television viewership for women's basketball games.

Iowa is the second most-watched women's college basketball program

Iowans LOVE women's college basketball, and Iowa sits just behind that other women's basketball team out west in viewership so far this season.

According to Nielsen rankings, Iowa State and Iowa top the list of the "most-watched" women's college basketball programs this season.

Iowa is in the midst of an eight-game winning streak, and the squad is sitting on top of the Big Ten Conference standings before a California road trip kicks off on Thursday, January 29, against USC.

The Hawkeyes are clicking on all cylinders, especially on offense, where they rank in the top 15 in most statistical categories.

Iowa is ranked No. 19 overall in points per game (81.0), No. 17 overall in three-point field goal percentage (36.8), and No. 3 overall in field goal percentage (49.4).

Iowa's high field goal percentage is attributable to its dominance in the paint and effective ball sharing.

The squad takes most of its shots from close range and averages 21.3 assists per game (No. 3 overall).

The Hawkeyes have been fun to watch this season, and it is even more fun in front of a packed house at Carver-Hawkeye Arena or alongside thousands watching at home.
