No. 11 Iowa hit the road for a primetime matchup against No. 1 UConn, and let's say it did not go well for the Hawkeyes.

UConn showed why they are the best team in women's college basketball right now, and they took it to the Hawkeyes from start to finish.

Iowa held its own for the first half, but turnovers ultimately cost the team a chance to complete the upset.

The Hawkeyes turned the ball over a massive 26 times in the loss, and the Huskies took advantage, scoring 41 points off those turnovers.

Jan Jensen's squad beat UConn in most statistical categories, but ultimately beat themselves in the loss.

Hannah Stuelke led the Hawkeyes in scoring with 17, and added five rebounds and five assists. Chit-Chat Wright added 16 points and three assists, and Ava Heiden added eight points.

There is no shame in losing to a very good UConn squad, but Jensen cannot be happy with how Iowa beat themselves.

Ava Heiden has to stay out of foul trouble

Heiden has gotten off to a hot start for the Hawkeyes, but she has been making a bad habit out of getting into early foul trouble.

In the loss to Iowa State and now to UConn, Heiden has picked up multiple early fouls, forcing Jensen to pull her out for most of the half.

Heiden is arguably the Hawkeyes' best low-post scorer and rebounder, and when she isn't on the floor, you can see the difference.

Freshman Layla Hays has been playing well as her primary backup, but they are two different players with distinct skill sets.

Heiden has to play more disciplined on the defense end and defend down low without fouling,

Stuelke is starting to heat up

Stuelke has often disappeared in games throughout her career and this season, but she has been on a solid role over the past three games.

She notched a double-double in the loss to Iowa State and followed that up with a 31-point performance against Lindenwood, and another 17-point performance against UConn.

Through Iowa's first 12 games this season, Stuelke has pushed her averages to 13. points and 8.7 rebounds per game, while shooting 54.1 percent shooting from the field.

Iowa will need Stuelke down the stretch, and her recent run of play is very encouraging.

Next game: December 28 vs. Penn State (3:00 p.m. Central Time)
