The Iowa offense broke out in a big way during a dominating win over UMass on Saturday.

A big part of the success came in the trenches, especially on the offensive side of the football. Iowa gashed UMass for 201 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 40 attempts.

The offensive line has been solid through the first two games and has given the offense a chance to succeed. The problem has been the inconsistencies in the passing game.

Mark Gronowski and the Iowa offense could not get the passing game going, tallying only 127 passing yards through two games.

During Saturday's game, the offense had nearly 200 passing yards (179) and two touchdown passes.

Not to be lost in the shuffle, Head Coach Kirk Ferentz made history with win No. 206 with the Hawkeyes, the most all-time in the Big Ten.

Veteran offensive lineman Logan Jones was emotional when describing what Ferentz means to him and the program.

During a portion of his postgame interviews, which was posted by 247Sports, Jones spoke about what Ferentz means to him.

Jones stated he is "truly so grateful" to him, and the things he has said will carry on through the rest of their lives.

Jones was also emotional when he described Ferentz as a "father figure" since the day he got on campus.

Ferentz has the respect of the team because of how successful he has been on the field, but also because of the way he carries himself off the field.

Jones stated he is a role model, a mentor, and always stresses the little things, and that is why he commands so much respect.

As Ferentz goes down in history, Jones and the rest of the squad will continue working hard for their head coach.
