What an opening night for the Hawkeyes at Duane Banks Field!

Iowa was back at home for its home opener after spending the weekend in Scottsdale, Arizona, at the MLB Desert Invitational.

The Hawkeyes dropped their first game of the weekend tournament, 15-6 to Kansas State, but finished the tournament winning their final two games.

Iowa's Tuesday afternoon matchup on February 17 is the earliest home game Iowa has had in program history.

Not only was it the earliest game, but also a record-setting game against UW-Platteville.

Iowa mashed a program-record 34 runs in a win over UW-Platteville

Iowa's offense erupted for 34 runs in a 34-5 victory over UW-Platteville, breaking a program record that had stood since 1989.

Iowa's 34 runs are a new program record, breaking the old record of 32 runs that the squad scored in 1989 against Quincy.

The Hawkeyes have now scored 20-plus runs in back-to-back games after scoring 21 runs in a victory over Northeastern.

Senior Kooper Schulte led the way for the Hawkeyes, going 5-6 with three doubles and a triple. He was just a home run shy of hitting for the cycle.

Matthew Delgado, Kevin Strohmeyer, and Brett White all homered for the Hawkeyes in a dominating display in the win.

Iowa used nine pitchers in the win, with Nick Terhaar making his Iowa debut and getting the win.

The Hawkeyes are headed down south to Florida for a three-game series against Florida Atlantic that begins on Friday, February 20, and ends on Sunday, February 22.
