Iowa Baseball faces a tough challenge with No. 7 Oregon coming to Iowa City for a massive three-game series. The Hawkeyes have been scuffling, losing five of their last nine games, while Oregon is red-hot, winning its last seven games.
The Hawkeyes are back home at Duane Banks Field after a three-game weekend series against No. 10 Oregon State at Principal Park in Des Moines, Iowa. Iowa dropped the first two games of that series and tied the final game.
The Hawkeyes took on the Ducks in game one of the series, and were dismantled. Here is how it happened.

The Hawkeyes sent star lefty pitcher Cade Obermueller to the mound to set the tone for the beginning of the series. Obermueller started off strong, but fell apart in the fourth inning.
He was racking up the strikeouts in the first few innings, tallying five in three innings. He was dinged for one run in the top of the first inning, but settled in after that.
After knocking in a run on a squeeze play to extend their lead to 2-0 in the top of the fourth, the Ducks had runners on first and second base with only one out. Obermueller then issued a free pass to load the bases.
The next hitter smashed a grand slam to extend the lead to 6-0 and sealed the game.
Obermueller did not have his best stuff on the mound and the Hawkeye hitters combined for two hits and zero runs in the 10-0 loss in seven innings.
Game two begins on Friday at 6:02 p.m. from Duane Banks Field in Iowa City, and the Hawkeyes must win to stay atop the Big Ten standings.
