A week after a devastating loss to rival Iowa State, Iowa Head Coach Kirk Ferentz has made history.

Fans were calling for Ferentz's head after a second straight loss to Iowa State and a tenth consecutive loss to a ranked opponent.

Even on the verge of immortality, fans wanted Ferentz gone, regardless of how many wins he has achieved or will achieve in his career.

Ferentz and the Iowa squad responded after the loss with a dominating 47-7 win over an overmatched UMass squad, earning Ferentz win No. 206 in his Iowa career.

For the moment, the dark cloud hanging over Iowa City has lifted, and fans and former players are celebrating Ferentz and all he has achieved as the head coach of the Hawkeyes.

Former Hawkeye linebacker and the current radio analyst for Iowa Football, Pat Angerer, stated there has never been a finer coach than Ferentz. Angerer had a front-row seat to Ferentz's greatness as a player and now as a broadcaster, and he has nothing but praise for the head Hawkeye.

Recent Hawkeye legend and Super Bowl Champion Cooper DeJean also shared love for Ferentz on X with a simple message. DeJean called Kirk a "legend" while sharing his congratulations.

Long-time Hawkeye supporter "Hawkeye Enjoyer" shared his love for Ferentz by calling him his "goat," or greatest of all time. We could not agree more.

Kirk Ferentz means a lot to Hawkeye fans, emphasized by what Donnie said in his post on X.

Ferentz legacy was cemented years ago, and the all-time wins record in the Big Ten is a cherry on top of an already historic legacy.

Congrats to Ferentz on an incredible career, and everyone hopes you have continue success as the head coach of the Hawkeyes.
