Former Hawkeye player and long-time assistant coach Dan McCarney will make his return to Iowa City as an honorary captain for Iowa's game against Indiana.

McCarney is one of the few coaches who crossed the rivalry from Iowa to Iowa State, becoming the head coach of the Cyclones in 1995.
During his tenure with Iowa State, McCarney accumulated a 56-85 (27-68 Big 12) record and guided the Cyclones to two Bowl game victories (2000,2004).
In 2006, the Cyclones won their first three games of the season before losing seven straight, leading to McCarney's resignation in November 2006.
Overall, McCarney compiled a 78-117 record as a head coach at Iowa State and North Texas.
McCarney will will accompany the team before and after the game in the locker room, and join the team at midfield for the coin toss before the start of the game.
