The Las Vegas Aces have been struggling to start the 2025 season. After 20 games, the Aces are 9-11, No. 5 in the Western Conference standings, and No. 9 overall in the WNBA.
To make matters worse for the Aces, their perennial MVP candidate A'ja Wilson could miss significant time after suffering a wrist injury during a 87-78 loss to the New York Liberty on Tuesday.
Wilson fell awkwardly in the second quarter of Tuesday's game, but stayed in the game to shoot her free throws. She left the game shortly after and did not return after halftime.
Aces' Head Coach Becky Hammon confirmed Wilson had an MRI on Wednesday, and was eventually ruled out for Thursday's game with no timetable for her return.
Wilson, a three-time WNBA MVP, was having another solid year for Las Vegas, averaging 20.7 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game.
Before Thursday's matchup against the Washington Mystics, the Aces received some good news in the form of Megan Gustafson being able to suit up for the first time this season.

The former Hawkeye star missed the first 19 games of the season with a lower leg injury she suffered in practice before the season started.
In her season debut, Gustafson tallied four points, four rebounds, and a blocked shot in 22 minutes. She struggled shooting in her return, shooting 25 percent from the field.
The Aces struggled in the second half of Thursday's game, being outscored 43-28, and lost 70-68 to the Washington Mystics. The Aces are 4-6 in their last 10 games.
Las Vegas will need Gustafson and the rest of the squad to step up in Wilson's absence, especially if she is forced to miss extended time due to her wrist injury.
The Aces will look to get back on track in their next game as they return home to face the Golden State Valkyries on Saturday, July 12 at 2:00 p.m. Central Time.
