The Las Vegas Aces had another solid campaign during the 2024-2025 season. The Aces finished with a 27-13 record, good for second place in the Western Conference and a four-seed in the WNBA playoffs.

The Aces lost in the Western Conference semifinals 3-1 to the future champion New York Liberty.

Superstar A'ja Wilson led the Aces to another successful season. After leading the Aces in points (26.9), rebounds (11.9), blocks (2.6), and steals (1.8), Wilson earned her third Most Valuable Player award. She also won the award in 2020 and 2022.

After earning 67 first-place votes, Wilson became the second-ever unanimous MVP in WNBA history, following Cynthia Cooper in 1997.

Wilson's primary backup is former Iowa superstar Megan Gustafson. The Dallas Wings drafted Gustafson No. 17 overall following a dominating senior season at Iowa.

During her senior season (2019), Gustafson averaged 27.8 points, 13.4 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks per game, en route to being named the Naismith, Associated Press, ESPNW, and USBWA Player of the Year.

She joined the Aces as a free agent before the 2024 season, and became the primary backup for A'ja Wilson. On Thursday, the Aces announced Gustafson suffered a significant injury.

During practice, Gustafson suffered a serious lower left leg injury, and there is no timetable for her return.

After making significant contributions to the Aces and leading the Spanish National Team in points (18.3) and rebounds (6.5) during the 2024 Paris Olympics, Gustafson will be sidelined for a significant amount of time.

The Aces turn to Kia Stokes, Cheyenne Parker-Tyus, and 2025 draft pick Elizabeth Kitley to replace Gustafson.

The Aces begin the 2025 preseason on Friday, May 2, at 6:00 p.m. Central Time against No.1 overall pick Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings.
