With all the controversy that surrounds superstar Caitlin Clark, we often forget the most important thing: she's REALLY good at basketball.

It has been a rough month for the Fever star, who continues to be swallowed up in controversy. The WNBA not only left her off the 30th-anniversary poster, but she is back on the sidelines with a lingering back issue. She was beaten up during a two-game series against the Phoenix Mercury in June, and the Mercury made sure she stayed on the sidelines.

That sparked even more controversy, but luckily, there is FINALLY some good news.

Clark earned the Eastern Conference Player of the Month for June

Despite the Mercury cutting her month short by knocking her out of the game early, including Alyssa Thomas putting her fist on her throat, Clark managed to earn a special honor after a torrid month of play.

After averaging 21.9 points, 4.0 assists, and 8.2 rebounds in June, Clark earned the Eastern Conference's Player of the Month award. The Indiana Fever went 7-4 in June, including an impressive four-game winning streak over Washington, Seattle, Chicago, and Toronto. Clark's presence cannot be overstated, and while the Fever have found ways to win without her, she remains the focus of their offense. There hasn't been a lot of good news surrounding Clark lately, but this is a grand achievement, and one her haters won't be able to stomach.

She has received even more vitriol lately, and her WNBA peers have shown what they truly think of her by naming her the No. 11 overall player in the league. Even though she was named an All-Star Game starter for the second consecutive season, that is a massive slap in the face of one of the premier players in the league, but she once again showed everyone why she is at the top.

Clark will be the first to tell you that she doesn't care what people think about her, but she is human, and the treatment she has received throughout her WNBA career has been ridiculous. She is a great player who brings tons of eyes to the league, and the media circus surrounding her has painted such a negative picture that we forget how good she is. In the end, she is a person just like everyone else, and even though she receives a large share of media attention, it doesn't mean she deserves the hate she gets.
