The Indiana Fever have been middling since the WNBA All-Star break, mainly due to the absence of their star guard, Caitlin Clark, and multiple key players who are out for the season.
Clark's injury woes have been well-documented this season, beginning in the offseason where she missed a few preseason games.
During the 2025 season, Clark has missed a total of 25 games, suffering her most recent injury in the second-to-last game before the All-Star break.
Clark's most recent injury (right groin strain) has held her out for the last 15 games as the Fever attempt to make a playoff push before the end of the regular season.
The Fever had a brutal back-to-back against the Minnesota Lynx, the No.1 team in the WNBA, on August 22 and 24, losing both games, and have gone 4-6 in their last 10 games.
The squad bounced back in a big way in their most recent game against the Seattle Storm with a dominating 95-75 win.
As the week has progressed, the news surrounding Clark's rehab is improving.
Fever Head Coach Stephanie White said it would take multiple practices for Clark to return to action. The star guard has missed 24 games this year with muscle injuries, including the last 15 with a strained right groin. https://t.co/QoQ4UYkjGB

Iowa's News Now reported that Clark is getting closer to a return and is ramping up her work. Fever Head Coach Stephanie White stated that Clark will still need several more practices to be ready, but they will need her down the stretch to make a playoff push.
The Fever currently sit in third place in the Eastern Conference and are No. 6 overall in the WNBA. The bottom of the WNBA standings is clogged with teams sitting around 20 wins, and one or two bad games could knock the Fever out of the playoff picture entirely.
If the Fever can maintain their position or move up in the standings, Clark can return when she is fully healthy and give the squad a chance to make some noise in the playoffs.
